The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies or State Police responded to the following calls:

  6:09 a.m. An Ohkay Eagle Mart caller said the store was broken into; the glass doors were shattered and the wrought iron door is open.

  7:02 a.m. A Star Lane caller reported a man is acting weird and looking into properties.

  7:05 a.m. The maintenance shop at McCurdy School was broken into and tools were stolen.

  7:11 a.m. A City Compound caller reported that a catalytic converter was stolen.

  7:44 a.m. An O’Reilly’s caller said homeless people set up tents behind the store and cut their fence. They told them to leave but the homeless people are refusing.

  9:58 a.m. An Angel Duran Drive caller reported her grandfather’s license plate was stolen.

  10:12 a.m. A Fast and Furious caller said a customer brought in a U-Haul trailer that was reported stolen out of Denver. The caller said the VIN has been altered.

  12:18 p.m. A Hernandez caller said a man wearing paper scrubs and with an IV in place, showed up at her house and began arguing over a gun.

  5:38 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on her mother, whom she thinks is being physically abused by her boyfriend.

  6:16 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man walking in the middle of the road, who appears to be disoriented.

  7:47 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said a man is smoking something on a foil.

  7:49 p.m. A Calle Olivas caller reported a woman is walking around yelling and screaming.

  9:16 p.m. A County Road 40 in Ohkay Owingeh caller said someone just fired shots at their house.

  10:39 p.m. A Walgreens caller requested that several people in front of the store be dispersed.

  11:29 p.m. A Cañada Court caller said her son came to get a cigarette, but his sister wouldn’t allow him in, so threw a rock at the house.

  12:45 a.m. A North Monterey Lane caller reported a man is throwing rocks at her house and breaking her windows.

  3:53 a.m. A Taos Lane caller reported a lot of yelling in the neighborhood.

  6:56 a.m. A County Road 236 in El Rito caller requested a welfare check on two people in a car because she can’t tell if they’re dead or alive.

  7:24 a.m. A Private Drive 1536 in Hernandez caller said her neighbors are stalking her and shooting pellet guns at her house. She said she has a gun and if she catches them, she’s going to defend herself.

  7:53 a.m. A caller said a woman is passed out in her car near Fairview Lane and North McCurdy Road.

  8:21 a.m. A Medanales caller reported two donkeys are wandering on the roadway.

  8:43 a.m. A North McCurdy Road caller said her credit card was stolen Saturday night and it’s been used to make several purchases.

  9:52 a.m. A Paseo Don Juan caller reported her grandson keeps showing up and asking for money. This time, he showed up and threw a rock at the caller’s truck.

  10:41 a.m. A Walmart caller said someone left a dog in a car.

  10:44 a.m. A Camino Sabinal in Medanales caller reported someone went to his house and tried to start it on fire.

  10:48 a.m. A Calle Milagro caller said her card is missing from her wallet and when she checked her bank account, she saw three Amazon transactions for more than $400.

  10:55 a.m. A Camino de los Altos caller reported his 90-year-old landlord was attacked by a dog, while on a walk.

  12:34 p.m. An Española Valley High School caller said a student walked off campus.

  12:42 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a person standing in the middle of the road in Alcalde.

  12:43 p.m. A Walmart caller said a woman who’s been trespassed is on the property, harassing and threatening employees.

  1:03 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man rolling around on the ground, outside of Allsups.

  1:07 p.m. A Family Dollar in Hernandez caller said a person is dumpster diving.

  1:19 p.m. A Truchas caller reported her neighbor is harassing her and was standing in the driveway, yelling at her and waving a knife.

  1:27 p.m. A deputy took a report for a stolen poly cart.

  2:01 p.m. A Sacred Heart Church caller said a security camera was stolen about a month ago.

  3:27 p.m. A deputy tried to stop a man on a bike between Seventh Street and Grove Avenue in Chama.

  5:11 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying in the middle of the road near Valdez Park.

  5:37 p.m. A West Winesap Drive caller reported her father has been drinking and he fell on the ground. He’s awake but seems disoriented.

  5:43 p.m. An Ohkay Travel Center caller said a man’s scooter-type bike was stolen.

  6:53 p.m. An El Llano Road caller reported a man in a Ford with American flags is known to sell narcotics out of his vehicle.

  8:52 p.m. A caller near PMI said a woman is crying on the side of the road, saying she was run over.

  9:27 p.m. A Chamita caller said a man keeps going to her house and harassing her.

  9:48 p.m. An Alcalde caller requested courtesy rounds because she’s afraid of her neighbors.

  10:11 p.m. An East Pueblo Street caller said two women are fighting and one has a baseball bat.

  10:34 p.m. A County Road 96 in Chimayó caller reported hearing multiple shots fired in the area.

Dirty looks aren’t a crime

  3:16 a.m. An Angel Duran Drive caller reported people are walking up and down the road and they think it’s crazy for this time of night.

  5:52 a.m. A Motel 6 caller said someone broke into his van. Police discovered it wasn’t a break-in, but rather, his catalytic converter was stolen.

  7:19 a.m. An Allsups caller requested that homeless people be dispersed.

  8:47 a.m. A caller said a man is trying to break a window by throwing rocks at the Best Daze Cannabis Shop.

  9:04 a.m. An Allsups caller wants a man who was asleep on the side of the building, dispersed.

  9:18 a.m. A North Riverside Drive caller said several homeless people are going by the AC Global Business office and refusing to leave.

  9:23 a.m. A Walmart caller reported a panhandler is giving an elderly couple a hard time.

  9:36 a.m. A State Road 581 caller said she took four sleeping pills and is hallucinating and thinks she’s overdosing.

  10:01 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported her brother-in-law is driving by and threatening her.

  10:06 a.m. A Coyote caller said her husband has been acting up for a few days and he won’t let her leave.

  10:08 a.m. A County Road 138A in Alcalde caller reported some gates were stolen.

  10:15 a.m. A Walmart caller said a man is making threats and getting aggressive with security.

  10:31 a.m. A Calle del Rio caller reported homeless people are staying in a condemned building.

  11:45 a.m. A student at Fairview Elementary was caught with a knife.

  12:26 p.m. A Private Drive 1058 in Alcalde caller said a catalytic converter was stolen off his RV and tools from his garage were stolen.

  1:08 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying on the side of the road in Abiquiú.

  1:27 p.m. A Santa Claran Casino Hotel caller said a man pulled a gun on him.

  1:32 p.m. A Clyde’s RV caller reported a burglary after the fact; someone broke into their canopy and “took a lot of stuff.”

  2:11 p.m. A Walmart caller said a man hopped into the back of a rescue truck that’s parked there.

  2:11 p.m. A Calle del Alamos caller reported someone stole yard tools and a weed eater.

  2:36 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man walking in the middle of the road near Lucero Center.

  3:33 p.m. A Medanales caller said a truck was behind her granddaughter, flashing the lights and tailgating her.

  4:30 p.m. A Milagro Village Mobile Home Park caller reported the door to a vacant house is open.

  4:59 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said people are doing drugs in the area.

  5:36 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man sleeping in a truck near the Arboleras Center in Chimayó.

  12:15 a.m.  A Paseo de Paulina caller said a 24-year-old man took something and is now unconscious. 

  1:05 a.m. A Mountain View Street caller wants officers to tell the neighbors to quiet down because they’re being very loud.

  6:45 a.m. A Walgreens caller requested a welfare check on a shirtless man who’s walking “weird,” like he’s bent in half.

  8:04 a.m. A Sombrillo Elementary caller said a student is telling a peer that his brother is going to go to the school and shoot them.

  9:30 a.m. A Private Drive 1528 in Hernandez caller reported her 11-year-old grandson doesn’t want to go to school and she can’t make him. The dispatcher could hear the child yelling at the caller in the background.

  9:32 a.m. A New Mexico Bank and Trust caller requested that a homeless person who’s behind the bank be dispersed.

  11 a.m. A Del Norte Credit Union caller said there are two panhandlers in the area and they’re being weird and hitting the ATM.

  12:12 p.m. A Walgreens caller reported people in a car are throwing beer bottles at them.

  12:14 p.m. An officer took a report for battery after the fact at the Española Middle School.

  12:39 p.m. A Las Lomas Apartments caller said a homeless person is sitting behind the dumpster with their pants down.

  12:43 p.m. A Century Bank caller reported her card is stuck in the ATM.

  1:30 p.m. An Upper San Pedro Road caller said his house was broken into and the thief took all his watches and his brother’s Firearm magazines.

  2:01 p.m. A Lomita Lane caller reported people are inside a condemned house.

  2:31 p.m. An officer responded to a call regarding a student in possession at the Española Middle School.

  2:50 p.m. A West Calle Jose Pablo caller said her father is neglecting her and blocked her from receiving mail at the post office.

  3:13 p.m. An officer took a report at the Española Police Department for theft.

  3:41 p.m. A Taco Bell caller said a man is being belligerent and arguing with employees.

  3:50 p.m. A Vista Pointe Court caller reported her daughter locked herself in the bathroom and won’t open the door.

  6:16 p.m. A Santa Clara Apartments caller said four shots were fired on the side of the building.

  6:49 p.m. A caller reported as she passed by Española Valley High School, her vehicle window was shattered by someone shooting either a pellet or BB gun.

  8:44 p.m. Someone on Corona Drive in Medanales phoned 911 and said, “I’m going to kill everyone in this (expletive),” then hung up. Deputies had a 17-year-old girl transported to the emergency room, after responding to the house.

  6:05 a.m A Pizza 9 caller said two men are doing drugs.

  11:09 a.m. A 13-year-old North Railroad Avenue caller reported her parents were killed by an unknown man in Chimayó, but she doesn’t know their address. 

  12:24 p.m. A Tsigo Bugeh Village caller reported a bike was stolen.

  1:16 p.m. A Chama Elementary School employee wants to speak with a deputy because she is being verbally harassed by a student’s parent.

  1:44 p.m. A man told a security guard at the Santa Claran Casino Hotel that he’d been bitten by a dog near Walgreens.

  1:59 p.m. A Del Taco caller said a man is refusing to leave the lobby and is acting crazy.

  2:53 p.m. An El Rey Liquors caller reported a young man is having a panic attack and can’t breathe.

  3:15 p.m. A Snappy Lube caller requested that a box full of needles be picked up.

  4:13 p.m. A County Road 111 in La Mesilla caller requested a welfare check on a man who might be drunk, who’s walking around. The caller is concerned he might get run over.

  6:16 p.m. A Calle Borrego caller reported two people tried to cut the catalytic converter off his vehicle. He chased them away and heard what he thinks might be a gunshot.

  6:21 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said someone stole his catalytic converters.

  7:23 p.m A Wells Fargo Bank caller reported two men and a woman are kicking pottery pots. They took the pots and walked toward the carwash.

  7:14 p.m. A Cañada Court caller said he saw someone trading and selling drugs in the parking lot.

  7:19 p.m. A Speedway caller reported a man who’s been trespassed is back on the property.

  9:04 p.m. An Española Hospital caller said an emergency room patient there on a psychiatric hold, destroyed the property in a room.

  9:30 p.m. A Domino’s Pizza caller reported a man is trying to pry open the locked doors with a knife.

  11:08 p.m. A Stone Lake Road in Lumberton caller was slurring her words and said she has an unwanted passenger. The line then disconnected.

  12:28 a.m. A Camino Cielo Grande caller reported his pedal bike was stolen.

  12:38 a.m. A Las Lomas Apartment caller said a woman is at an apartment and isn’t wanted there.

  12:49 a.m. An El Llano Road caller reported a house is on fire near the airport.

  2:01 a.m. An Ohkay Casino caller said there’s a fight and security can’t break it up.

  2:11 a.m. An Ohkay Travel Center caller reported a drunk friend is trying to get home. The caller said the woman got out of her vehicle and tried to get in her truck.

  2:23 a.m. A caller said a man is trespassing at Española Transit.

  2:53 a.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller requested that a group of teenagers be dispersed.

  3:24 a.m. An Española Hospital caller requested assistance from an officer in holding a juvenile patient who was transported for a physical exam.

  4:32 a.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said men are walking around with backpacks and they look like they’re going to steal catalytic converters.

  6:15 a.m. An Ohkay Travel Center caller reported a car is circling the gas station.

  6:49 a.m. An Allsups caller said a man is doing drugs on the side of the building.

  7:03 a.m. An Abiquiú caller reported a car with driver-side damage is sitting with its trunk open. The caller said the driver has a knife in his hand.

  8:01 a.m. A Calle Borrego caller said there are drug addicts on her property who are refusing to leave.

  8:19 a.m. A Chamita caller reported her son stole her credit card and took $700.

  8:57 a.m. A Private Drive 1508 in Hernandez caller said they hit a gas line while digging a trench.

  11:27 a.m. A Walgreens caller reported six panhandlers are taking over the parking lot and customers are “scared” to get out of their cars.

  2:53 p.m. A Dairy Queen caller said a man with a knife is walking around and pointing the knife at people.

  3:25 p.m. A Chili’s caller reported a man in a car is beating a woman in the passenger’s seat.

  3:42 p.m. A Rio del Oso Street in Chama caller said a truck drove through the fence and destroyed it.

  4:16 p.m. A Speedway caller reported  a man is walking toward Taco Bell, wearing only underwear. The caller phoned again to say customers reported the man exposed himself to everyone on the side of the building.

  4:25 p.m. A County Road 86A in Chimayó caller said his brother is drunk in the arroyo and needs an ambulance.

  4:58 p.m. An Odelia Lane caller reported someone took her car, damaged it and returned it. She doesn’t know who took it or how they got it. An officer said it looks like a dog bit the bumper.

  4:52 p.m. An officer stopped to check on a naked man yelling at passing cars on Calle Borrego.

  5:54 p.m. An Española Hospital caller reported damage was done to some property.

  6:33 p.m. A caller wants to speak with an officer because he walked out of Subway without paying for his food, after one of the employees tried to fight him.

  6:49 p.m. A Paseo de Paulina caller reported the neighbor tried to attack him because he asked him to turn down the music.

  6:54 p.m. An El Mirador caller said a man with dementia sexually assaulted her.

  7:17 p.m. A County Road 325 in Tierra Amarilla caller reported someone is shooting a rifle.

  7:33 p.m. An El Guique caller said she’s being harassed by a neighbor. She said he’s blocking the entrance and threatening to kill her.

  7:45 p.m. A North Orchard Lane caller reported two “crackheads” are knocking on peoples’ doors.

  8:02 p.m. A County Road 92 in Chimayó caller reported he went to buy marijuana from a drug dealer and the dealer threatened to kill him. He said the drug dealer forced him to put chips in his brain so he can clear his thoughts.

  2:17 a.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller wants two people dispersed for loitering.

  6:24 a.m. A truck is abandoned and on the side of the road near El Rito. It appears as if it rolled over, but there’s no one in or near it.

  8:02 a.m. A Speedway caller wants to speak with an officer because she was being treated for narcotic withdrawals and was discharged, but she didn’t want to leave the hospital.

  8:59 a.m. A North Monterey Lane caller said a semi trailer that was being used for storage was broken into.

  9:17 a.m. A West Winesap Drive caller reported his SUV was broken into and money, as well as several tools were taken.

  10:18 a.m. An Ohkay Owingeh caller said a man who appears to be intoxicated is walking on the roadway.

  11:19 a.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller requested a welfare check on a person nodding off in a car, parked by the mailboxes.

  12:29 p.m. A man who’s been trespassed from Walmart is refusing to leave and got verbally confrontational with staff.

  1:06 p.m. A Carll Lane caller said a woman is in front of his house and he thinks she may have followed him.

  1:28 p.m. A North Railroad Avenue caller requested a welfare check on a man lying on the road near the funeral home.

  1:30 p.m. A Starbucks caller requested a welfare check on a man at the bus stop, who appears to be on drugs and is jumping in and out of traffic.

  2:55 p.m. A Rio del Oso Street in Chama caller said a drunk man is banging on the door.

  4:16 p.m. A caller reported a man took her stuff and she’s on foot at the intersection of Fairview Lane and North Paseo de Oñate.

  4:22 p.m. State Police were out with a woman passed out in her vehicle on U.S. Highway 84/285.

  4:54 p.m. A Calle del Sol caller reported being bullied by children.

  7:07 p.m. A Speedway caller said a man is outside by the pumps, asking customers for money.
