In addition to the Taycan, which benefited from a weekend getaway program, the 911, Macan, Panamera and Cayenne inherit a roof tent as an option in the catalogue.

For those who want to travel without the constraints of a motorhome (size, price, driving pleasure), there is an obviously less comfortable alternative, but more advantageous on certain points. The roof tent has become more popular in recent years, especially in the United States where it has become a real fashion on the most adventurous 4x4s. But it is no longer reserved for Nissan Patrol, Toyota Land Cruiser and other Mitsubishi Pajero. The proof with the arrival of a roof tent in the Porsche catalog, for all models… excluding Targa and convertibles, of course.

With its Macan, Cayenne and even Taycan Cross Turismo, Porsche has returned to some of its roots with off-roading and adventure. Remember that a certain 959 was involved in rally-raids. A spirit transcribed with this very official roof tent, launched on 911, Macan, Panamera, Taycan and Cayenne. It offers 2.10 meters of length inside, enough for two large adults. The maximum load is announced at 190 kg. Weighing around 55 kg, it unfolds simply thanks to its cylinders. Attached to the roof bars, however, it has a drawback: it limits the maximum speed of the vehicle to 130 km/h. The Germans will therefore not be able to attempt the left lane on the Autobahn with such equipment on the roof. Which will be charged 4980 € (German price, probably saltier in France). That’s expensive for a roof tent, especially since industry specialists offer much cheaper roof tents and probably just as much, if not more elaborate.
