The Laid-Back Camp movie premiered on July 1. It made 350 million yen (~US$2,575,000) and drew 251,138 attendees in its first three days. The story takes place after the anime series, with the camping-loving main cast now adults who reunite to build a camp site.

Laid-Back Camp is based on the Houbunsha-published manga by Afro, which began in 2015 and has 13 tankoubon volumes as of March 2022. The manga was first serialized in Manga Time Kirara Forward but is currently running in the COMIC FUZ app, and is published under the Manga Time KR Comics label. Two anime seasons aired in 2018 and 2021 respectively, while a spin-off called Room Camp aired in 2020.

The movie’s staff includes Yoshiaki Kyougoku (Laid-Back Camp Season 1 and 2) as director, Jin Tanaka (Laid-Back Camp Season 1 and 2 series composer and scriptwriter) and Mutsumi Itou (ROOM CAMP series composer and scriptwriter, Laid-Back Camp Season 1 and 2) as scriptwriters, and Mutsumi Sasaki (Laid-Back Camp and ROOM CAMP) as character designer. As with the series, C-Station is the animation production company.

Other returning staff from the series include Production I’s Yoshimi Umino as art director, Studio Twinkle’s Hiroaki Tanaka as photography director, Studio Road’s Taeko Mizuno as color designer, and Akiyuki Tateyama as music composer.

Meanwhile, the returning cast includes Hanamori as Nadeshiko Kagamihara, Nao Touyama as Rin Shima, Sayuri Hara as Chiaki, Aki Toyosaki as Aoi Inuyama, and Rie Takahashi as Ena Saito.

Yen Press describes Laid-Back Camp as:

Setting up a tent, starting a fire, and eating noodles with Mt. Fuji in view…Rin and Nadeshiko absolutely love to camp! Enjoy their zest for travel and maybe even pick up a tip or two about roughing it in the great outdoors. You might just want to go camping yourself!
