Technology outdoors: 1-1:30 p.m. Saturdays, Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center, 9096 W. Minnesota Highway 61, Schroeder. From pocket tours to identification apps, there are many digital tools available for exploring the great outdoors. Bring your own device. Free with parking fee.

Jay Cooke State Park offers programs from nature walks to campfire talks. All programs are free; a Minnesota State Park vehicle permit is needed to enter. Vehicle permits can be purchased upon arrival at the park office. Cost: $7/day or $35/12 months. There are reduced price options for disabled veterans, Minnesota tribal members and others. Courage Kenny Northland Shoot for Fun: Sept. 9, Old Vermilion Trail Hunting Preserve, 6980 Old Vermilion Trail, Duluth. This is the largest sporting clay event in Minnesota, drawing over 450 hunting and sporting clay enthusiasts from across Minnesota and Wisconsin. Shooting experience is unnecessary. Minimum age is 16 and all meals are included. It needs volunteers for the following: Sept. 9: Setup, 2-5:30 p.m., and new volunteer orientation and dinner, 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 10: Shoot for Fun Event, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and take-down, 4-6 p.m. Barbecue lunch and dinner included.
